DIY Friday: shoe clips

Yayyy! I'm back ready to DIY! I was inspired by the post from: http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-shoe-clips/  (which I'm sure the F stands for fruitcake or some like that! 😉)

I found it by perusing through my Pinterest board: the fashionist: DIY, and my user name is Styledbyryn, incase you'd like to follow... Wink wink!

And unfortunately I didn't have all of the supplies for this project, but I adore the look. You betcha I'll be getting some other clip-on earrings from antique stores, eBay and etsy. These, that are in the pics, are my deceased nana and I would really like to preserve them. But all that to say, I really see these in our futures, as long as we make them to be in our future... (I know, really profound!) but you could totally wear these on a day to day basis or for fancier events. It's up to you! : )

What you'll need:
Shoes
Vintage costume Earrings (preferably clip ons)
E6000 glue
Blank shoe clip hardware
Pliers
Toothpick
And then go to: http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-shoe-clips
For the instructions!

Madewell sidewalk skimmers were used for the models of these shoe clips!

It's an easy & quick one, but a lil vintage, glamour & fun way to spruce up ones shoes! : )

I hope you have fabulous weekend and I will see you Monday! -Ryn

Styled: Heather

So a few weeks ago, I received another client, Heather... who happens to be one of my sisters. So at first we were just supposed to go thrifting, but that's not at all what we did... We went to one of my favorite thrift shops Berry Good Buys, Where she found a Neiman Marcus dress and a Michael Stars shirt that retails at $80.00, but did she pay that? Nope, She paid a total of $8! Then we  found ourselves near the mall. And there just so happened to be a goodwill over there so we just went by, and she bought a dresser and then we found out there was also another thrift store, so we stopped there... Let's just say, You need a lot of stamina for that place! So much stuff! We didn't find much.

Then we decided to take a quick break to Smoothie King and then we headed on over to find shoes for Heather, all the while finding more clothes for her too! ; )

Well, we found a boatload of clothes for her but only one pair of shoes! Ha ha! Oh well!

And then later on in that week, she came over for a family event and brought some clothes for me to put together outfits with. It was such fun! and I think she "gets" me as a stylist now! ; ) Hallelujah!

So, She entrusted me to style her! Pretty cool, eh!? I NEVER thought that day would come! But that just shows you how awesome the Lord is! He's full of surprises & faithfulness.

Here are a few pictures of when I styled her! (BTW, She's preggo!)

Ladies & gents, this is how a momma to be & mommies should look! Put together & gorgeous!

A cute & quirky outfit. Everybody need a quirky piece in their wardrobe!

That's the $20 Neiman Marcus Dress!!!

This oufit has the right pop of color, without it being overpowering! Perfection!

A t-shirt and jeans kind of oufit, but only better! a longer type tee is perfect!

Flouncy tops are always a good idea sometimes! And this outfit is the perfect going out ensemble!

Stripes aren't actually unflattering. They actually are very! You just have to make sure the piece fits correctly. It has a slimming affect usually!

A belt works well when you want to draw the eye up! and to cinch in the waist!

Hi-low Hemlines are perfect for anybody type, as long as it fits, and it hits you in the right spot on your leg!

I know this won't be the only time for me to style her!
Doesn't she look fantastic?!
She's rockin' every single look!

But now I have a new outlet in styling: Pregnancy. Women need to feel beautiful in every stage of  life, I just want to help them feel confident in their clothes! To feel beautiful every time they reach for their clothes to put on!

Styled: Jasmine

So I just went thrifting with my client Jasmine... And I went to thrift shops I was recommended to try and we scored on some great staples & some fun items for her! Alot, Alot of tops! Which is great! Tops are an easy way to transform your wardrobe! The places we went, both had brand name items scattered throughout! Like: Splendid, Nieman Marcus, Anthropologie Brands, Velvet, Michael Stars, Eileen Fisher, D&G, you name it, they had it! Those place are now on my list of thrift stores to go to! and to style clients there aswell! (I even found some things too.) Plus the day we went, it just happened to be, if you had a pink tag, it was a dollar! Hallelujah!
Then after we went thrifting that day we ended the day at Anthropogie, J.crew & Madewell... What a shame, okay not really! ; ) I made another girl fall in love with Madewell! I'll just make a list of how many now ; )

Jasmine's reason for going was she wanted new clothes, She had never been thrifting and we both had free time to go! In May, I'll be taking her shopping to Northpark in Dallas.

So Jasmine got 11 tops & sweaters and one pair of jeans, Plus a vintage train case (for storing nailpolishes in) for, are you ready for this? $77.94! Approximately, that's $6.49 each piece! Not too shabby! You can't really go into a store and come out with clothes that are only that minimal of a price! and that you know there aren't too many girls walking around in the same exact tops! It's fabulous! And all of the clothes were taken care of really well!

Tips & tricks: Thrifting

Some tips and tricks when Thrifting:

1. Avoid the bathroom at all times! I'm sorry but when you walk into a thrift store and it already smells, I can't imagine how good the bathrooms could be! I try and go somewhere beforehand or after. NEVER do I go at the thrift store.

2. If you carry a nice purse with you, aka a coach or an LV , You probably shouldn't, before you leave home, switch out your purse, so it's not obvious that you have money to spend! I haven't had this happen to me, but 1. Patrons that are shopping like you will look at your purse like a piece of meat... or the employees will jack up the prices of the things you want to buy! So, just switch out your purse! It helps!

3. Always carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with you. Because it's just handy & useful, I never leave the house with out it! Or if I do, I stop at the store & buy one.

4. If trying on shoes, wear socks until you can disinfect them!
Kinda like the airport security, my feet will not touch the airport floor without socks! I don't know what nasty feet have touched those shoes! And ain't nobody got time for that!

5. Keep yourself satiated. Go out to eat or have a energy bar in hand! Or chocolate works too! also coffee, water, smoothie, anything is better than nothing! We don't want you do be hangry when thrifting! Doesn't call for a good thrifting experience!

6. Never be ashamed to ask for a discount! It always helps!

7. Take a friend! The judgement helps! and the company is usually enjoyable! unless they are perpetual Debbie Downers!

8. If you intend to try on pants, please wear underwear! I was shopping with a friend once, and she informed be she doesn't underwear with jeans, so that day she was trying on pants from the thrift store, I was definitely repulsed by that! I for one, do not want my down south to touch anything that I know hasn't been properly washed by me, in my washer! Ain't going there!

9. Wear a bra, if trying on tops & dresses, you won't get an accurate fit, if you do not have a foundation for it!

10. Have fun! It's an enjoyable sport! You can find incredible things when you actually take the time and look! 😊

If I think of anything else I 'll be sure to keep you posted! ; ) -Ryn

Day 22: Ryn B. - One of my favorite things... Cableknit.

I am loving cable-knit type things right now...
Not just in sweaters! I like it in rugs, ceramics, scarves... seriously everything!

You can decorate with it...
You can wear it.

One thing you can do is to go thrifting and get a men's cableknit sweater.

Super cute, in the cozy/chic look! : ) Just picture; black skinnies, slouchy sweater, ballet flats, top bun, red lips.. See I told you! ; )
So many options! I really think that it makes things cozier!

Think of using a big cableknit sweater in your outfit. Cozy right?

You can also buy new just shop in men's or a bigger size to give you the cozy feeling : )

Cableknit is such a classic look. And such fun look in the winter too! You could also pair a cableknit sweater with a pencil skirt, maybe a colored shirt and heels, a dressy casual effect!

Or a weekend look could be to pair with floral or polkadot denim! Really cute! Ad some sparkle to it too and then throw on some hiking boots or military boots! A nice balance for sure!

And then adding cableknit to your house is adds texture & liveliness to your home! You could place a cableknit throw over your sofa, or a ceramic cableknit vase to hold your beautiful flowers... Or even soap dishes that hold your soap!

I mean there are so many options to choose from! To adding texture into our daily lives! : )

Merry Christmas and Love & Cozy Wishes to you and yours!
