Style secret: Men's Oxfords

Yep, That's my style secret! Men's Button down shirts! You read it correctly! I love this style, because you can belt it, let it be more like a light jacket or wear it un-buttoned! Rolling the sleeves up is a must! Plus you can pair the men's shirt, with skinnies or a pencil skirt! Super cute right?!
Seriously, you will feel oh so cute in this! I know it's sometimes hard to wrap your head around it, but it's so cute when worn! And let's face it, sometimes, we may not want constricting clothes, it's nice to have it a bit roomy, but you can always define your waist by adding a belt! There is a sexiness by being carefree & simplistic! P.S. Menswear is big for fall! : )

Plus I have a few ideas to make it more feminine for ya! Later DIY posts to follow : )
But for now you'll have to live with pictures!

And suggetions on where to look for men's oxfords:
Plato's Closet
Thrift stores
Gap
Oldnavy
J.crew & outlet : )
Also Check out the clearance section!

This is Me by the way! And that is a Men's pinstripe blue & white shirt...I paired it with a Women's J.crew Cardi, & denim skinnies, with tan booties & a statement necklace...

And since we are getting into fall, flannel shirts are the best! You can throw a cardi over it & and look super chic! Don't be afraid to play with patterns, although chambray is nice too! And if you are an XS go for an XS or S in men's, If you wear mediums, you'll want a S or M and so forth! Just try it on!

Color combos for Fall! : )

So, Ive been thinking, a pair of Gap royal blue khakis are on their way to my house as we speak... of course I ordered them 3 months ago, but that's beside the point!  I know that colored jeans & pants are all the rage right now, and they were last fall too! I quite frankly love them! But to some it may be a sensitive subject! Here are some colors you wouldn't think of going together, but they fit perfectly together : )

Have fun with it, and if you figure out other colors to go with your royals, your rusts, your taupes & your greenish golds, please let me know! I'd love to try the combos!

For this fall and winter, my favorite color combos are:

Royal Blue & Rust:
My all time fave! Who knew it would look great?! The rust makes the blue pop! it's absolutely gorgeous!

 and

Navy/Fawn Taupe

and

Navy/Greenish Gold:

and

Royal Blue/Heather Grey:
This combo is just cute! I love it!

FNO

So last Thursday, September 6th was Fashion's Night Out, otherwise known as FNO! I went to Neiman Marcus Fort Worth, and had a blast, of course it's not as big as, say North park in Dallas or even as big as a whole city celebrating like NYC, but you get my drift! ; ) It's celebrated around the world too! With Women & Men celebrating fashion, by watching runway shows, munching on scrumptious food, having artisan water or cocktails, & getting to do pretty much anything under the sun that involves beauty & update your wardrobe... Seems pretty much like a good night to me : )

Fashion's Night Out began in 2009 as a means to encourage consumers to shop and support the fashion industry during the tough economic climate. [4] The event has expanded to 16 countries in 2010 and will occur over the span of eight days to maximize traffic in individual retail environment. [5]

And it's for a great cause! It's one night a year, in September. And it's a chance to get dolled up and look at fashion! And I promise to take pics of myself next year at FNO : ) Maybe I'll attend it in NY, we'll see ; )

Check out www.fashionsnightout.com for more information!

I encourage you to go next year! It's sooo much fun! : )

HannahBeth's looks for Autumn : )

So I've been a bit busy this past week! But I absolutely love it!

I went over to a client/friend's home and paired fall/winter outfits together for her! Whenever the weather decides to become colder : ) I went shopping with her back in February and just now putting together outfits! Where has this year gone I wonder?! I'm excited to see what the rest of the year holds, aren't you?!

Also I gave her a list of staples and items to get for fall:
Black skinny jeans- lets face it ladies, they look great on everyone! And every outfit will look great with them!
Denim jacket
Leopard shoes
Peachy Coral scarf
Colorful shoes
Solid color scarves

And then, for us all, what would be great for us: Oxblood nailpolish! deep deep red...

Love y'all! -Ryn

Thrifting 101

One word: Thrifting.

I have been doing this alot lately. And I've been styling gals, by going thrifting...
Let's face it girls, It's not always easy to throw down $300 for 3 somewhat unique items, when there is a thrift store down the road from where you live... And believe me, I like shopping as much as the next person, or maybe even more! You know the saying, Shop till you drop? I go way past the dropping point, I sometimes wear out my clients, but in turn, I find what there looking for! But anyways, we like to be unique creatures, and sometimes stores don't give us the freedom to explore unique options, so we turn to thrifting.

If you are however, grossed out by wearing someone elses old clothes, It's normal to be. But a good washing usually does the trick! If by chance you pick an item that smells like BO, Don't buy it!
But, you can find fabulous finds, if you look hard enough! Like vintage leather purses, leather belts, skirts, button up collared shirts, cardigans...etc. And then there are times when you can find items you can DIY, Which I love! More on that subject later : )

Just last week, I styled Julianne at a Goodwill here in Saginaw TX.

She bought 7 pieces of clothing and didn't pay over $55.00. If she were to buy 7 pieces in an actual store for quality pieces, her bill would have been over, let's say well over $200 hundred!
She bought some incredible pieces too! And looks that she could intermingle with her other wardrobe. Her favorite store is: Anthrpologie. And all of the pieces look like they came from there that she bought at goodwill.

You want to buy pieces, that fit with your style and that fit you. You don't want to buy something that you with never wear! That just doesn't make sense to me! If you don't love it, don't buy it!
Unless you see it as a project and you will love it after you done making adjustments on it! : )

For me, as a stylist and when I go shopping with a client, I'm there to give support & see things that, you may miss. I love my job. It's great. And it gives my clients a confidence to be beautiful!

This happened with another client:
The unfortunate thing is you may hit bumps & ruts when thrifting, when you don't buy as much because the price is too high for 2 shirts. When you are paying $18.00 for 2 shirts, that's a little high, I think. So be mindful. The most you want to pay is between $1.00-$6.00 for woven shirts!

So then you can find great accessories when thrifting! I don't usually go for shoes, I've only bought two pairs of shoes in all the times of been thrifting! One for $4 and one for $8... So, then I found a cute oxblood(big color for fall) clutch for $5 and one time I found a monogrammed leather coach purse for $4! And then of course you can find scarves and ponchos for low low price!

You see, you can make really cute outfits with almost any type of clothing! It just takes some effort to find the perfect piece(s) to buy at a thrift store... Or a regular store for that matter! But once you find that piece, your outfits will look oh so cute!

Style Tip 101: Black Skinnies...

Oldnavy The Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans: $34.95

True Religion Black Ponte Skinny Jeans $167.00

Paige Denim Skinny Cords, Black: $148.00

J.Crew Matchstick jean in overdyed black denim $115.00
http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/denim/matchstick/PRDOVR~58239/58239.jsp

I tell all of my clients to get at least 1 pair of black skinnies. Because, They are sooo versitale, the can go from day to night in a snap of a finger! I love black skinnies! They make you look slimmer, and like you're not trying to hard! And they even go with everything! Any girl can wear these pants, as long as you get them to fit! Fitting is the key! When trying on, make sure you can sit down/squat but snug enough to stay in place and not fidget every 5 seconds! Make sure you can breathe in them and and that you can put one to two fingers in the waistband. Also if you can buy them with lycra, between 1-30%! It helps let tell ya!

Now I know I am showing you high end and low end of denim...
But I wouldn't neccessarily splurge on one pair of jeans. Denim is denim & it does wear out. I would say if you're getting them for a great price, and they fit well, Try and buy 2-4 pair of them and rotate them. That way your not just wearing one pant out then, throwing away & getting a new pair out! Also think outside the box! Think about going to outlet malls, for like J.crew & Gap, or going to H&M or Forever 21. Or going to big sales at Neiman Marcus or Saks Fifth... You don't just have pay Retail. You can definately find deals!

You got this, girl! : )
