DIY Friday: Shakira shirt

Soo I was tuned into The Voice the entire season! And I saw Shakira wear the really baggy men's button-down shirt. Buuut the neat part was that it had short sleeves. Now you're probably thinking, what's the big deal, name brands make men's short sleeve shirts! But no, this was a long sleeve shirt cut to make it a cuffed short sleeve shirt. Suuuuuuper cute! I made one and then wore it and I just love it! (I got compliments too! Bonus!) I already like the free people style and this was a cross between j.crew/madewell & free people! I'll probably live in that shirt allll summer! (And the 3-4 others I made ;) )

And I can totally say I enjoyed Usher and Shakira on this season of the voice! This is just my preference, but this season it was so much better with those two! I'm sorry, but cee-lo kinda creeps me out! Although I did see either a commercial or an ad in a magazine and he had on a white v-neck covered from shoulders cascading down to mid chest, covered in rhinestones big and small! That's the only thing I liked of him. He's just an odd duck I suppose...

But I just love Shakira! She's so cute! But this shirt is super super cute! Thanks for the idea Shakira!

You'll know how much you like this shirt when you want to cut the sleeves off a shirt you are ironing for you husband or dad! Hah! (True story)
I encourage you to make this DIY! It's fun, and it's cute to wear with skinnies, pencil skirt, flare jeans, etc!
You can wear this shirt belted, tied, loose or buttoned and it will make you look effortlessly chic. My kinda shirt for sure! This could work for summer as a cool staple and it would work for autumn with a sweater on top! Über cute!

I was going to post a pair of jeans I saw on free people, which were cuffed skinny jeans, and on one leg it was vertical stripes & on the other leg it had stars. Super cute and since we're celebrating 'merica, It would have been perfect! But it will have to wait, since I ran out of time! : /

What you'll need:
Iron
Embroidery thread
Needle
Straight pins
Men's shirt
Scissors

Step 1. Buy a roomy (a few sizes too big) men's button down. (Thrift stores, plato's closet, retail stores will have these.)

Step 2. Fold in half, line up the sleeve, shoulder & side seams. (the 3 S's. sleeve, shoulder, side)

Step 4. Iron your sleeves together, on top of each other. Iron on high if contents are 100% cotton.

Step 5. Guesstimate on long the sleeve should be. It's your choice, but I like it when the length is between a cap sleeve & regular sleeve. Then cut it.

Step 6. Fold over one sleeve at a time. and Iron it. Fold on the outside so you can see the cuff.

Step 7. Fold over again and iron the sleeve again.

Step 8. Thread your needle with 3 strands of embroidery thread. (You usually get 6 strands of embroidery thread in one skein)

Step 9. Pin the cuff in place. Even though you have already ironed it. You still want some stability.

Step 10. Start the stitching process. I did crisscrosses around the entire sleeve. It's time consuming but super cute.

Step 11. Iron it again and then you're finished! And you'll look just as cute as Shakira. ; )

Enjoy your summer & autumn staple!
: ) let me know if you make this!!! I'd love to hear about it!!

Beauty Find: Nerium

In honor of the nerium party my mom, Holly& I hosted last night. I thought I would inform my sweet lovies (that's you!) about the new product in my life!

Nerium.
(Bad lighting, sorry!)

It's an incredible product! It does sooo much for your face! It's made from the oleander plant. The non harmful one! Since there are 400 species of the plant, just needed to clarify!  It is a night cream. And it targets & helps blemishes, discoloration, scaring, acne, dryness, oiliness, wrinkles, large pores, stretch marks, etc! It's the miracle product!!!

I've been using it for about 15 days! And I've noticed a significant difference for sure! My skin is usually rather dry and I've had a few blemishes here and there and I've noticed my face is glowing, it has evened out my skintone, the blackheads on my chin are minimizing (yay!), oh and my face has had roscea and its not red anymore, more like a light pink, its brightening my face and the dryness is decreasing! I just use powder on my face y'all! No foundation!!! The first time I just used powder, It felt like I was sinning with not putting foundation on, but I really don't need it anymore! My face is better off without it! You'll get to that place, I promise!

Nerium is super easy to use.

Here's how you use it:
1. Wash and cleanse your face. (I use my clarisonic & philosophy's clear days ahead)

2. Dampen your face.

3. Use 2-4 pumps, squirt it on your fingertips.

4. Smear it on your face. It will be slick. Just so you're forewarned. It will be like your fingers are iceskating on your face. You can use it on you face, Neck, back of the hands, décolletage, arms, wherever you want! Really!

5. Let it dry. There with be a slight tightening to your face. That's a good thing. It means it's working!

6. Go to sleep.

7. Wake up!

8. Wipe off or rinse off.

9. Put your face on! And wait for the compliments! ; )

I will tell you each face is different and will have a different experience. But all good results!

There are three levels to buy:
Retail: $110.00

DIY Friday: washi tape notebooks

I'm almost always in need of a notebook or paper when I'm out and about. Whether it be for doodling, jotting down a good quote, or just because, I always have a notebook with meh and a cute one to boot!

Helpful hint:  Without paying a lot for JUST a notebook, find one in the dollar spot or in the clearance section and add some pizazz to your writing tablet!

It's a quicky chicky easy DIY to do!

You'll need:
Super cute Washi tape
Notebook ( I hear moleskin works, but i just used the regular paper kind)

1. Set out your notebook(s).

2. Eyeball how long of a strip you'll need. Then adjust the tape where you would like it. Start with one corner of the notebook with the washi tape. Press firmly. Fold the tabs to the under side.

3. Do two parallel strips of tape. Then  tear a very long piece off. you will then want to make that one perpendicular to the others, you'll then wrap it around to the other side and fold under.

4. Then you will want to put a small piece on the top corner aswell.

5. Stick it in your purse or in your desk at work, and Enjoy using it!

Stripes:
1. Add washi tape in parallel strips all the way down the notebook.

2. Fold the washi tape under.

2. Ta-da!!!

Hope you enjoyed this! Happy Friday!-Ryn

Style find: earrings

Can you believe Michelle Chamuel didn't win on the Voice last night?! I'm so bummed, but I'm pretty sure Usher will sign her as an artist with his record group! I could be wrong but, I hope he does! She's awesome! And her voice is incredible! Who did you want to win?! Comment below👇

As I've probably said before, I'm a  jewelry designer. So I'm continuing designing jewelry and down the road I may pick up the whole designing clothes thing again...

But for now, I just received an order of 5 pair of custom earrings from a fabulous friend & customer!!! The earrings are gorgeous, and I can't wait to see them on her ears!
So while I was doing the custom order, I decided to restock and replenish my company with a new collection! It's all handmade, every detail is made by me! And it takes about 2-3 days to complete an earring collection! (that's of I go non stop)  I haven't totally finished the collection, but I can show you some pics! 😉

(And of course you can not forget TCU colors when you're in Fort Worth)

This is probably my favorite collection so far!

I was thinking in terms of doing another handmade marketplace, I'll need to make my booth more organized and so I am starting to. So as not to be so chaotic... Thank goodness!

I'll let y'all know if I do decide to do a handmade marketplace... It will be in the fall in Fort Worth Texas. And I'll let you know when I put these babies up on etsy too! From the pictures I've posted on Instagram & Facebook I already have orders coming in with ladies who would like to purchase the beauties! Thank The Lord! Yay!

Well I hope you are doing fantastic! I hope to here from you soon! Love you, Ryn
