One of the great things
about having a live-in, is using my styling powers on her! ; ) it was great, she had a 3 day event that she needed outfits for, she was concerned about how artsy she could go, so we did a combo of artsy/conservative... It was the perfect mix too! It's just enough artsy to feel comfortable. And yet conservative enough to take seriously!

When you are in a situation when you don't want lose your artsy flair but when you are concerned about not being conservative enough, choose pieces from your closet that can work together.
1. Choose neutrals. It's a good starting point. It also helps ground the outfit. As you see in both pics; there is a black "something", whether it be pants or a shirt, it helps the whole look to flow.

2. Choose something with color. You can totally do the whole no color thing, but you can also through in a touch of color. As you can see with the pants she has on, they have salmon color shaped diamonds all over them. And with the plaid in the other picture, it has a punch of color.

But with each of these looks,, they flow nicely! There isn't a piece that is out of place.

3. Add some flair! It's ok to add glitter, shimmer or sparkle as its not distracting. You never want to overpower your outfit with something that distracts from the other elements in your wardrobe. NEVER a good thing!

But you do want a nice flow in your outfit. A Softness to the whole look, nothing too harsh!

You can totally conquer this look of conservative/artsy!
