Styled: Jasmine

So I just went thrifting with my client Jasmine... And I went to thrift shops I was recommended to try and we scored on some great staples & some fun items for her! Alot, Alot of tops! Which is great! Tops are an easy way to transform your wardrobe! The places we went, both had brand name items scattered throughout! Like: Splendid, Nieman Marcus, Anthropologie Brands, Velvet, Michael Stars, Eileen Fisher, D&G, you name it, they had it! Those place are now on my list of thrift stores to go to! and to style clients there aswell! (I even found some things too.) Plus the day we went, it just happened to be, if you had a pink tag, it was a dollar! Hallelujah!
Then after we went thrifting that day we ended the day at Anthropogie, J.crew & Madewell... What a shame, okay not really! ; ) I made another girl fall in love with Madewell! I'll just make a list of how many now ; )

Jasmine's reason for going was she wanted new clothes, She had never been thrifting and we both had free time to go! In May, I'll be taking her shopping to Northpark in Dallas.

So Jasmine got 11 tops & sweaters and one pair of jeans, Plus a vintage train case (for storing nailpolishes in) for, are you ready for this? $77.94! Approximately, that's $6.49 each piece! Not too shabby! You can't really go into a store and come out with clothes that are only that minimal of a price! and that you know there aren't too many girls walking around in the same exact tops! It's fabulous! And all of the clothes were taken care of really well!

Tips & tricks: Thrifting

Some tips and tricks when Thrifting:

1. Avoid the bathroom at all times! I'm sorry but when you walk into a thrift store and it already smells, I can't imagine how good the bathrooms could be! I try and go somewhere beforehand or after. NEVER do I go at the thrift store.

2. If you carry a nice purse with you, aka a coach or an LV , You probably shouldn't, before you leave home, switch out your purse, so it's not obvious that you have money to spend! I haven't had this happen to me, but 1. Patrons that are shopping like you will look at your purse like a piece of meat... or the employees will jack up the prices of the things you want to buy! So, just switch out your purse! It helps!

3. Always carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with you. Because it's just handy & useful, I never leave the house with out it! Or if I do, I stop at the store & buy one.

4. If trying on shoes, wear socks until you can disinfect them!
Kinda like the airport security, my feet will not touch the airport floor without socks! I don't know what nasty feet have touched those shoes! And ain't nobody got time for that!

5. Keep yourself satiated. Go out to eat or have a energy bar in hand! Or chocolate works too! also coffee, water, smoothie, anything is better than nothing! We don't want you do be hangry when thrifting! Doesn't call for a good thrifting experience!

6. Never be ashamed to ask for a discount! It always helps!

7. Take a friend! The judgement helps! and the company is usually enjoyable! unless they are perpetual Debbie Downers!

8. If you intend to try on pants, please wear underwear! I was shopping with a friend once, and she informed be she doesn't underwear with jeans, so that day she was trying on pants from the thrift store, I was definitely repulsed by that! I for one, do not want my down south to touch anything that I know hasn't been properly washed by me, in my washer! Ain't going there!

9. Wear a bra, if trying on tops & dresses, you won't get an accurate fit, if you do not have a foundation for it!

10. Have fun! It's an enjoyable sport! You can find incredible things when you actually take the time and look! 😊

If I think of anything else I 'll be sure to keep you posted! ; ) -Ryn

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday! It was so fun at my house, everyone came over, we ate, we laughed, we thanked The Lord for giving up His son on the cross, so that we could have an everlasting relationship with Him. So then I was able to style my sister and take pictures of her, blog will be up soon! It was just a great day I would say!

Umm, have you seen how cute rifle paper co. is?! So cute! I love the florals, the colors and her designs! It's so lovely when I use her labels, which I had bought in February from Anthropologie! Style find: a crisp white V-neck

I had these perfect v-neck tees from my all-time favorite store that shut it's doors a few years back...
I was so devastated over it too, because every time I would go in the store, and tried things on, everything would fit me like a glove, doesn't always happen off the rack... : ( The name of the store was Martin + Osa. LOVED that store! and those two white tees I bought are so soft & luscious! but regretfully I finally had to retire them to my PJ's... boo hoo!

V-necks are vital for your wardrobe. The ultimate staple! You can never have too many white tees! It's an easy way to pair with bootcut jeans, skinnies, slacks, skirts, wide-leg pants, maxi-skirts, boyfriend jeans, jackets, blazers, cardigans.

One thing about a white v-neck, is it's so classic. I mean, a colored shirt is great, but NOTHING beats the look of a crisp white v-neck! It's definitely a staple for your wardrobe. It's one of those items you need to buy in bulk. If you find one that looks superb on you, one that skims all your curves & flatters you, and the V is the PERFECT V, you need to buy, like, 5! I'm telling you, it's such a classic, you'll be able to wear it with so much! You'll find outfits that go with them, ALL the time!

Just make sure it compliments your decolatte' (upper chest & collarbone area). There are certain lengths for v-necks, There are short & wide, long & thin, long & wide, short & thin. If you're not sure try on a couple of different style v-necks and pick accordingly to which one you think looks good & best suits you. There are also deep v-necks, and well, those don't always flatter you, like you think they would! just be cautious in that area. Maybe wear a cami when you wear a deep V...

I'm telling you, you can wear the same V-neck days in a row and pair it with different items in your closet, and still look as chic as you did on the first day! (Granted as long as you don't spill anything on it!😉)

And tunic style, upper thigh length is a great style for a V-neck! : ) My all time favorite length!

Here are a few options for ya! :

(Gap)

(H&M)

And since I am such a nice person, and you may hate v-necks I threw in a U-neck tee, you can try! Another name for it, scoop-neck.
(Gap)

Also really great brands & stores that carry V-necks are:
Mossimo for Target
Oldnavy
Pure + Good (usually at anthro)
Eileen Fisher
: ) Love ya!!!! - Ryn

Style Find: Wide-leg floral pants

We all have days were we feel fat... If you don't feel like this someday please share a comment with us and tell us how you do it!

But if you do feel fat some days, you just crave to be comfortable, right? You just want to go put on comfy pants. You don't care whether you're out and about or at work, you just want to wiggle you nose, and poof, there are your comfy clothes! But unfortunately, that never happens unless you have comfy clothes in the trunk of your car or you have them hidden in your desk or cubicle.

But we're creatures of comfort. we like it when we are comfortable & comforted! When we can throw something on and have be comfortable & have it look good also! I think I may have found the solution! Yayyyyyyyyyyy!

These Pants look amazing! They will flatter any size! They could be a Rayon Challis (a really flowy/drapey fabric) Elastic waistband ( Probably the elastic will only be in back) meaning they will be easy to slip on & off and not cutting off your circulation for some. and it will be easy to style with tucking shirts in them. And they are wide-leg. Like pallazzo type pants! Very free flowing!
They come in prints & solids. and you can usually pair with other prints (Such as stripes, polka-dots, other floral, checks, windowpane, Aztec... Etc!)

They pair nicely with tees, blazers, jean jackets, chambray, silky blouses, oxford button ups, peplum shirts, camp shirts, silk collared blouses, tanks, motorcycle jackets, baseball jackets, crew neck sweatshirts, sweaters, baseball shirts, graphic tees,  ...

You can pair these shoes with: Wedges, Oxfords, Loafers, sandals, Peep-toes, ballet flats, sneakers...
You can wear them with platforms too, just try not to wear with casual items like, just a t-shirt. It make s the whole outfit disproportioned when you pair dressier things with casual items. but if you throw a blazer on with it, you have a better way of making everything look put together.

These pants are great for relaxed work places, everyday wear & travel!

So I can find a least 24 outfits that surround those pants! I mean, 24 is a big number for just some pants! But do you see, that if you have tops & jackets in neutral colors, you have a better chance of getting more outfits out of some wild pants, than buying a specific shirt for those pants? Because if you do that your brain will only go to the outfit of: "That shirt can only go with those pants" rather than "I have at least 24 ways I can wear these pants! Pretty genius, I think!
And with neutrals, you can definitely pair with bright colorful shoes! You don't even need to match the colors, like I did here with the Gold Oxfords & Blue wedges!

Now you do see a coral pullover & a leopard peplum. Well you can definitely pair these items with these pants, Here's How:

Pants, Leopard Peplum, Jean Jacket
Pants, Coral Pullover, Jean Jacket
Pants, Leopard Peplum
Pants, Coral Pullover
Pants, Leopard peplum, Motorcycle Jacket
Pants, Coral pullover, Baseball jacket
Pants, Tee, Coral Pullover
Pants, Chambray, Coral pullover
Pants, Leopard peplum, baseball jacket

So go buy some right now!!! Or if you sew make them! : )

DIY Friday: Tribal Jeans

I totally fell for the look of the printed Tribal pants & skinnies, but I hadn't found one that I absolutely loved, so I made my own kind of tribal/tuxedo skinnies... Super easy to make!

How I came up with this idea, was I wanted it to look like these pants, but I didn't want an all over print like this. My first thought was to make the print from the mid calf down, but I wasn't totally committed to that idea. So I decided for now just a "tuxedo/tribal" stripe down each leg. The great thing about doing it yourself, is that you can go with one idea and if you want to change it, you can totally revamp your first DIY into another look. You get to play with it until you're happy with it!

And these pants are just fun!
One. They are slimming because they are printed down the seams of each leg.
Two. They are fun to wear without being in-your-face tribal. They are just the right amount of being subtle & on-trend!
Three. they are fun & easy to make!

What you'll need:
Skinny Jeans or Jeggings
Paint ( Jacquard or acrylic)
1'' inch foam paintbrush
Speedy-cut Carving blocks (DickBlick)
Iron

Step 1: Lay your pants on a flat surface.
Step 2: Cut your carving blocks to the size of the triangle you want. ( I cut them in not so perfect triangles.
Step 3: load your foam brush with paint, then brush on your carving block triangles.
Step 4: stamp onto the outside seam of your pants. let dry, then do other outside seam of pant.
Step 5: then Let dry overnight.
Step 6: Iron on medium to high heat, to set the paint.
Step 7: Look cute and wear!
